Disclaimer

The database of the excavations at Amheida is the working tool of an ongoing project. It has been designed to record as fully as possible the excavations themselves and their finds, primarily through the records for stratigraphic units and for objects. To these are linked photographic documentation and other digitized records. It has been made publicly available both as a source of fuller information (and far more extensive visual documentation) than can be contained in formal publications and as a record of material not yet published. We hope in particular that readers of our publications will find the availability of more detailed backup information useful, and we have as far as time allowed introduced links in both directions to make such consultation more convenient. This work is ongoing as more publications are completed.

Because both the excavations and their publications continue, the database is a work in progress and subject to constant change. It is the work of many hands, of different native languages, over an extended period and mostly created under field conditions. It has not been systematically edited or proofread. We offer no assurances that it contains anyone's final views on the nature of any stratigraphic unit or any object. Users are asked to keep these characteristics in mind in using the database and not to suppose that it has the same function or authority as a formal report.

The contents of the database are copyrighted by the Excavations at Amheida project, which is sponsored by New York University. The rights to all upublished materials are reserved to the project and belong by Egyptian law to the project director, Roger Bagnall (roger.bagnall@nyu.edu), to whom any inquiries should be directed. Some materials in the database have already been formally published. We have used project-specific icons in records to distinguish what is published, what is unpublished but essentially complete, and what is currently in progress and particularly subject to change. Previously published materials, including associated images, are released here for free reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC-BY). The Cc-by2 icon is used to indicate clearly such materials.

Corrections and suggestions are welcome and will be taken into account of as circumstances permit, but we will not usually respond to or acknowledge them individually unless this seems necessary; they should be sent to Bruno Bazzani (bruno.bazzani@tin.it).
